Spring And Summer Allergies In The Classroom

June 2, 2016 By Eileen Carter-Campos

Disclosure: FLONASE™ compensated me in connection with statements made in this post.

If you know anything about me, you know that I am all about the kids. Children are bursts of energy and I love to see them larger than life in their everyday activities. This is what I live for when I see my boys during their motocross meets and when I would observe my classroom children. I never liked to see allergies put them at a standstill. What I observed as a teacher was often sad and I thought that the parents should have made themselves more aware of what they could have done to help their child become more active, and to play greater without letting their allergies get the best of them.

I remember walking out onto the playground and observing Mari sitting at the side of the bench rubbing her eyes, looking as if she was crying for an hour. Sniffing and sneezing as if she was suffering from a cold during even the most beautiful weather. It was sad to see her not being able to run around with her friends because she’s so uncomfortable. It seemed to be worse when she was outdoors but even when I tried to seek comfort for her and bring her indoors, if the windows were open, which was another tragedy. Never mind if I tried to put on the air conditioner because that would make her really congested. There was literally no relief because her mother hadn’t educated herself in an effort to help Mari out. I think she was unaware of the allergy relief that could be provided for her. There are non-drowsy allergy relief products that are appropriate for her age group of 4+.

A lot of times as parents, we just don’t know! Here are some MommyTeaches Tips that have helped me with my boys who developed allergies over the years:

  • Listen to the news so you know what the allergen/pollen count is like on that given day.
  • Educate yourself about allergies and how your life can be less miserable. Of course Children’s FLONASE ™ Allergy Relief is available OTC,which can provide effective relief. It changed everything by allowing my child to live without allergies getting in his way. Consistent usage is key. It’s recommended for kids ages 4+. That was enough for me to know what I needed to do as a parent.
  • Think about exposure to these allergens, possible clothing or fabrics, and pollen flying through the air. Think about where you will be visiting and try to stay as far away from allergens as you can so you don’t trigger a reaction. Is there grass, trees, or weeds? These are things to think about prior to entering misery and having to deal with the repercussions of allergies, right?
  • Think about the time of day that you will go out. I have recently heard that certain times of the day are worse than others for allergies. I am no doctor but I do take these things into consideration with my boys.

Think about where you will be visiting and try to stay as far away from irritants as you can so you don’t trigger a reaction. Is there grass, trees, or weeds? These are things to think about prior to entering misery and having to deal with the repercussions of allergies, right?

I don’t know about you but here at MommyTeaches, we want our children to get outdoors and enjoy that beautiful New York City weather as often as possible. We want them to play greater and be greater. Therefore, we take all of the above into consideration and then some. If you’re interested, you can easily create a profile to earn points whenever you purchase Children’s FLONASE™ Allergy Relief, watch videos and read articles, complete surveys, complete your member profile, and share content with friends. Don’t you want to share all of this goodness? I just did with you and sharing is caring in my book.

Be greater than your allergies, while earning Greater Rewards! Join today and you’ll immediately earn points and save up to $4 with a FLONASE™ coupon. You will also make your child’s life greater by allowing them to be active outdoors and not be miserable while doing so. I hope I have educated you as a parent and as a teacher to make the right decisions for your child when it comes to allergies.

Care to share: How do you provide relief for your child during allergy season? Tell me in the comments and you will be entered for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card!
