Se Habla Musica Giveaway and How Music Moves Us

May 15, 2013 By Eileen Carter-Campos

**** This post is written by MommyTeaches/Eileen thanks to the generosity of Target. I received a Target gift card and so will one lucky reader! In exchange, I have provided my honest opinions for you below****

Content and/or other value provided by our partner, Target.

Music has always been a part of my life, from watching my sister breakdance on the corner of our block in Brownsville, Brooklyn with a group of other kids to my mom cleaning the house on Friday blazing Salsa and Merengue tunes. The music would creep through my hands right through my body and this Latina would shake everything her mama gave her! I became one with the music and no one could stop me. I am versatile with my love of all music. I enjoy hip-hop, R&B, Salsa, Merengue, House Music, Reggaeton, Reggae, Merengue típico (known as Perico ripiao) and Bachata.

Nowadays, you might not get me on the dance floor very often but there’s a chance that if you peaked through my kitchen windows, you’d see my husband and me dancing to some bachata or my boys and me turning our kitchen floor into a dance floor because that’s just how we get down! We discover new music by listening to several radio stations, by word of mouth from friends and family, or strolling through Target’s music section and bumping into our new favorite artists!

My husband and I will be celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary on May 17th and I remember dancing with him when we were just eighteen years old. This May 17th, we will join hands and dance in our kitchen, probably joined by our two boys, and we’ll get down to some favorite musicians on our playlist. We will reminisce about our years together and the music that has filled our lives over the years. Check out Target to find the tunes to get you shaking and moving to el ritmo and for now take a look at our favorites below:

Now that I have shared mine– Which songs get you moving to el ritmo (the rhythm)?

Disclosure: This post is written by Eileen (MommyTeaches) on behalf of Target #SeHablaMusica and although I was compensated for this post all views and opinions are 100% my own.
